About Us
Classic & Vintage Aircraft Services history can be traced back to the late 1970’s when, as a young school boy, Mark Masters would spend evenings and weekends helping a neighbour to restore a DH60 Gipsy Moth.
On leaving school Mark served an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship at the famous College of Air Training at Hamble working on Cherokee, Baron and Chipmunk Aircraft.
Following this he worked for various local aviation companies involved in the restoration of vintage aircraft and gained much experience in this field working on such classic aircraft as the DH range from the DH60 right through to the DH89a Rapide and numerous other aircraft of that Era.
In the late 1980’s Mark completed the rebuild, in his own time, of an Aeronca 11AC chief and this led to him being asked to restore a Stampe SV4B. He took on the job and started trading in his own right, as Classic and Vintage Aircraft Services. This name has been abbreviated to CAV Aircraft Services Ltd.
In the following years Classic & Vintage Aircraft Services have restored and repaired many aircrafts all over the world, a selection of these can be found on on the Restoration Page of this website.
In addition to commissioned work Classic and Vintage Aircraft Services have also worked on site directly for third-party clients including Air Atlantique and Heritage Air Services working on aircraft such as the Rapide, DC-3 and DH Heron carrying out engineering, fabric and paint work on the aircraft.
Classic & Vintage Aircraft Services are proud of their history and the fact they are now a family business with the introduction of Mark’s son James.
James has been around aircraft his whole life and now has over 5 years experience servicing and restoring GA aircraft. James is now specialising on all our fabric re-covering work.
